In UK law you can use reasonable law to protect yourself and If that means a crossbow and you fear for your life and you can prove you feared for youre life this case law would be used to help youre case…

This is the link to view the actual item – http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1981/69/contents.

Like many others, I believe that when the SHTF there will be no real enforcement of law and they will become a bonafide way of sourcing food for your loved ones if you know how to use them and where to find the resources.

Practicing your skills before the event can be achieved by finding a local archery club that conducts field archery days. No live targets but the nearest you will get to practice while staying within the existing laws.

That means birds or any animals in private or public places. Its in the leaflet above and its the “Crossbow Act 1987”. Big fines or prison are available if caught! However I agree, in a SHTF situation our priorities change and survival and common sense come before the law. Stay safe.

Have to agree with you there..!

Not many preppers are able to get out there and practice that skill.
My wife won’t even eat anything I have brought home…

I think the main thing is, at the very least, having a good knowledge of how to go about actually tracking and then knowing how to be able to go right through to the cooking process.

Better having some idea of the process than none…….

For the record, I have.. it was my job, once.

In other words you know what hardship you would have to face and part of that would be getting food by whatever means is possible.
The government would be all cossied up in their private bunkers and secret hideaways – not giving a toss about the rest of us, and certainly not worrying how they are getting their next meal.
A crossbow has so many advantages over other weapons and definitely a good weapon to stach away before it gets banned by the people ‘looking after us’..!!
I have not been able to find any written government legislation that outlines the exact UK laws on its use – if anyone knows where to find it, please add a link……
