Could This Be The Best Value For Money LED Flashlight Torch

Or more specifically: could this be the best for your compact EDC

The Convoy S2+   1000 Lumens Of White Light

The Perfect Torch For Your EDC

So whats make this a good contender for the best value for money torch?

Well, it's a bit of a no brainer really. You only have to look at the quality of build, the quality of the components used and the general, overall appearance to see it's up there with the big boys.

Looking at this torch as a contender for your EDC it has quality components with the more compact size required. There are other EDC torches available but this one matches and exceeds a lot of others on the high quality throughout. Remember we are not talking your main survival torch, just the smaller sized EDC torch.

It uses the best light and battery technology for torches that's available to us, namely the very reliable and tested Cree XM-L2 T6 LED light emitter, definitely a powerful unit and used by most torch manufacturers nowadays. This unit can throw out a very impressive 490 lumens that has the potential to give a beam of white light up to 100 metres.

As for the battery, well you won't go far wrong with the trusty rechargeable 18650. These batteries are the powerhouse of good equipment in the industry today. The lifespan and reliability is proven and they has become the industry standard for these type of torches and most other devices that require a good solid, reliable power source.
I always carry a couple of spare 18650 Batteries with me as well as a small charger unit and a solar charge packin my rucksack, to keep everything topped up - having been caught out in the past I would recommend you do the same.

The Convoy S+ is also available with the Blue Aluminium Body or a Red Aluminium Body

  • Sorry Folks:  The blue is now completely out of stock

Of course, if you are only using your torch for low background light, typically at night in your bivvy or tent, then you would set this on the 5% level, which is commonly know as 'candlelight' level.
This candle level would last for ages and the need for an additional battery would not be required.

You do have the choice of multiple lighting modes: 3 modes (5%, 40%, 100%) plus the extra Strobe and emergency SOS. Of course, by using the torch at 100% will significantly reduce the battery life, hence always carry a fully charged spare.

Then there's the build quality - study the photos and you will see what I mean when I say precision. The aluminum alloy body is precision machined and with everything fitted weighs in at a mere 88grams. Add that to the size of just over 4 1/2" long it's the perfect EDC combination.

I really like the full set of functions available - these match any survival torch available and more, offering the full SOS mode and the self defence strobe mode. That's something I think is essential in any preppers torch and especially in your EDC kit.

The Pros & Cons

Pros:

Good Battery & LED

Perfect EDC Size

Quality Build

Excellent Range

Great Excellent Price

Waterproof

Cons:

Does not include charger

The pros far outweigh the cons and for a price of £21.25.  yes you heard me right, and that's delivered to your door. A bargain eh!

So there you have it - the Convoy S+. The very best contender for the best value for money LED flashlight torch.

Ideal for compact EDC where a good torch is essential, but size and weight need to be considered.

Quality wise, I can't fault the build. Specification wise, good, reliable battery. Sensible choice of a tried and test Cree LED - that's the two main components are covered.

A waterproof, alluminium body finishes off this great torch.

Interested in this torch? Well it's well worth a look.
Don't get caught out - get prepared first.

Happy Prepping Folks.

    Hi

I’m a bit of a flash light nut, and the brighter the better, but what do you do with customs and VAT import tax, I’ve recently brought the Convoy C8 which is awesome powered by Samsung 3000mah batts brought from a UK supplier.
But I’ve got the Convoy S6 arriving tomorrow after DHL Customs sent me a link saying I need to pay just under a fiver and send proof via e-mail that I’ve brought the torch, then their post it in to me.
So am I right in thinking if it’s delivered via Royal Mail which the smaller torches are if they don’t pick up on the import tax situ’ then well they had the chance and blew it so don’t give it another thought, or should I call the Office and say its low cost items do I need to pay VAT or just leave it be?
Any advice would be much appreciated, the supplier is Gear Best in Singapore, and when that huge box went thru DHL they jumped on it, so I was just wondering if duty should have been paid on the other cheaper items posted by our royal mail?
    Many thanks 🙂

    1. Hi Wayne,
To be honest I am not sure.
I actually had this happen to me as well, but with an American purchase.
I will see if I can look into it a bit more.

Wow that seems like a nice LED flashlight. It looks sturdy and the color also looks great. The size is excellent for me as I like an efficient torch that I can put into my pocket when I’m on camping trips.

The best torches in my opinion is the Redline NEBO with 220 Lumen Flashlight and Strobe for Aggressive Self Defence. The other torch I have is the Ansmann Agent 1 Torch with pocket clip and torch bag for belt, this Agent 1 torch has 120 Lumens with a Tactical switch for Strobe work on Aggressive Self Defence. I carry this one at all times with me the other torch is kept in the car.

    1. Hi Darren,

Yep, the Redline Nebo is a good Tactical torch with all the features you need. Especially the defence strobe function, which is a must in my opinion.

I carry the Klarus XT11 which is a great torch.

I have a review and video of the XT11 here –
“UK Non Lethal Self Defence Weapon”

But these little Convoy S2+ in this article are such a good price for what you get though, it makes them almost worth getting a few..!!!
